Starting on June 21, 2026, we will be rolling out Release 2026.1, which includes updates and new features, to all of our DAKOSY GE and ZODIAK GE software solutions customers.

New in Release 2026.1

Update of Runtime Environment to Java 21

The update to the Java Runtime Environment for DAKOSY GE is currently being prepared and will be released as a part of DAKOSY GE 2026.2. Please check well in advance which startup path you are currently using to run DAKOSY GE and consider any potential impact on your internal IT environment. This is particularly important if Java updates are restricted or if Oracle WebStart is being used. In these cases, this issue should be addressed internally as soon as possible. To ensure a smooth transition, DAKOSY recommends using DAKOSY AppStart. Further details are provided in the current Release Notes. We will continue to keep you updated on this matter.

WKS Re-Export System – Changes to the Port Order (Ports of Hamburg and Bremerhaven)

For seaport customers, the introduction of the WKS Re-Export System on July 1 will result in changes to the Port Order (Sea Freight Export module). These changes have already been implemented for the Port of Hamburg. The transition for the Ports of Bremen is expected to take place on June 21, 2026.

For detailed information about the WKS Re-Export System and the changes you can expect, please visit our website:

Overview fo Release 2026.2

eInvoice (eRechnung, Germany only)

Starting with Release 2026.2 (currently scheduled for October), you will be able to send invoices to your customers via e-Invoice using the “Outgoing Invoices” module. This new feature may be of interest to you, as the use of e-invoices will become mandatory in Germany as of January 1, 2027.

The following formats are supported (compliant to EN 16931):

  • CII (Cross Industry Invoice): a structured, highly standardized XML format developed by UN/CEFACT
  • UBL (Universal Business Language): a widely-used, interoperable XML format that facilitates data exchange between different systems.
  • X-Rechnung: an XML format standardized in Germany which complies with public administration requirements.
The e-invoicing functionality will be automatically set up for you (provided you have ordered the Outgoing Invoicing module) with the 2026.2 release.

Passar Import (Switzerland)

Development of the new ZODIAK GE module for Passar Import is already well underway. The first features are currently being tested internally. According to the current schedule, you will be able to start using Passar Import in ZODIAK GE with the 2026.2 release in the third quarter of 2026. The new import module will offer a broader range of features than ever before, allowing you to handle your import processes via Passar even more conveniently and quickly. Stay tuned for more!

Of course, to mark the launch of Passar Import, we will once again invite you to a webinar to tell you about the new features.

Customs Update

EORI Number - Requirement to use the customs portal starting October 1, 2026

Beginning on October 1, 2026, EORI numbers can only be applied for, modified, or deleted via the Customs Portal using an Elster login. The online form 0870 may only be used in special cases when the portal is unavailable.

Termination of the customs-free port zone in Port of Cuxhaven

As of January 1, 2027, the 150,000-square-meter customs-free port zone in the Cuxhaven port area will be eliminated. The free port at this location is no longer necessary, which means that the second-to-last remaining zone with free port status in Germany will disappear (Bremerhaven will remain in place for the time being). Companies operating in the area should plan for the transition to regular customs procedures (WAM) in accordance with the legal requirements set forth in the Union Customs Code (UCC) in a timely manner.

Tips and Tricks

Email template texts can be customized for sending to individual customers (free of charge)

You can customize the email text in the templates used to send documents (such as invoices or customs documents) for each individual customer. To do this, go to the “Administration” tab, select “Email Templates,” and click “Create Email Templates for a Specific Document.” There, select the customer and enter the customer-specific text in the text field — this is the text the customer will receive via email along with the documents in the future. If you wish to use this feature, please send a short email to servicedesk@dakosy.de to request activation.

Partnership with AI providers

More automation, fewer mistakes, and faster customs processes  — these are the main benefits offered by our AI partners, DigiCust and Northbound.

We often receive inquiries from our customers about the possibility of using AI to extract data from PDF documents — such as shipping documents, invoices, and delivery notes — and automatically transfer it to their customs declarations. Since 2024, we have been collaborating with the AI provider DigiCust, whose AI platform is connected to ZODIAK GE via the BOX interface, allowing customs declarations to be filled out, reviewed, and transmitted to customs authorities within the familiar ZODIAK GE environment.

In addition, a partnership has recently been formed with the AI provider Northbound, which has successfully integrated its AI solution into ZODIAK GE via the BOX interface. For more information about the newly-integrated solution, please feel free to contact Northbound (Frederik Droll) directly.
