Information for your IT department
DAKOSY GE is currently being migrated in stages from Java 8 to Java 21.
The transition phase begins with the release of DAKOSY GE 2026.1. In this version, DAKOSY GE can still be launched with either Java 8 or Java 21. At the same time, notifications are being integrated into the application to alert users early on to any necessary actions. These warnings generally will not prevent DAKOSY GE 2026.1 from starting, but should be used to prepare for the migration.
Starting with DAKOSY GE 2026.2, use of Java 21 is mandatory. DAKOSY GE 2026.2 will no longer be able to operate with Java 8.
Please check the following points in particular:
- Is DAKOSY GE already being launched via DAKOSY AppStart?
- Are Java updates or automatic updates restricted in your environment?
- Is Oracle WebStart still being used?
- Are you using a Java version older than Java 21?
- Are 32-bit Java runtimes or 32-bit operating systems still in use?
Important: Oracle WebStart does not support Java 21. DAKOSY GE 2026.1 is the last release that can still be launched using Oracle WebStart. To avoid startup issues with DAKOSY GE 2026.2, you should migrate to DAKOSY AppStart as soon as possible. Alternatively, you may use OpenWebStart.
DAKOSY AppStart provides the best support for the transition to Java 21. If Java updates are not restricted in the customer’s environment, the required runtime environment can be automatically provisioned or used. If Java updates are disabled or restricted, the customer must ensure that a suitable Java 21 runtime environment is available.
The DAKOSY Service Desk cannot check or change local workstation configurations, operating systems, Java runtimes, or launchers.
Further information on possible warnings, causes, and necessary steps is available on our detailed help page.
